Network Design and Optimization
Sooner or later, every company needs to re-evaluate its footprint. Redesigning the company's logistics network can be driven by acquisitions, downsizing, changes in customer demographics, new products, and entry into new markets. Sometimes, companies grow "organically", not realizing they have added facilities and resources without any formal planning at all.
Very few companies are faced with developing a greenfield logistics network. Generally, they will balance resources such as equipment, their workforce, and facilities, while taking such things as construction costs, labor rates, distribution network road miles, tax benefits, and many more factors into account. Because these decisions are rarely based only on the most efficient solution, the process is often called network rationalization rather than optimization.
We have done hundreds of network projects using both commercially available and internally developed software. Our projects have helped small businesses select their second facility location and multi-billion dollar businesses rationalize more than 400 facilities.
The Gibler Group can handle any scale domestic or international network project you might have. If you are building your own design group, we can also help you reduce study costs while helping you train your team.
